American Portraits

May Concert – Friday 5/15/2026, 7:30 pm
St. Pauls United Church of Christ
Join Windy City Winds, Chicago’s Community Band, for a free concert featuring music that is bold, nostalgic and unmistakably American. Our lively program, American Portraits, is part of our 11th concert season celebrating the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence—honoring the spirit, progress and diversity of our nation.
The program features several works that paint a picture of our nation and its history, including Aaron Copland’s inspiring tribute to Abraham Lincoln, Lincoln Portrait. The piece culminates in a narration of Lincoln’s own words, and Windy City Winds is proud to welcome Henry Dominic Godinez, professor and chair of theater at Northwestern University, as our guest narrator.
Our concert is FREE and takes place at St. Pauls United Church of Christ in Lincoln Park at 2335 N. Orchard Street. The performance will also be livestreamed.
